Waiting for You By Susane Colasanti

Summary: At the beginning of her sophomore year, Marisa is ready for a fresh start and, more importantly, a boyfriend. So when the handsome and popular Derek asks her out, Marisa thinks her long wait for happiness is over. But several bumps in the road—including her parents’ unexpected separation, a fight with her best friend, and a shocking disappointment in her relationship with Derek—test Marisa’s ability to maintain her new outlook. Only the anonymous DJ, whose underground podcasts have the school’s ear, seems to understand what Marisa is going through. But she has no idea who he is—or does she?
My Thoughts: We are introduced to Marisa who is quiet but she feels this is the year that could all change. She wants to be more witty, more outgoing, and she wants to date someone. She's never had a real boyfriend and that is what she is determined to get. She finally gets Derek to notice her (of course its after he dumps his popular girlfriend) but hey beggers can't be choosers right? Marisa starts a relationship with Derek while she gets paired up in class with Nash, an old friend. He also lives next store to Marisa but she hasn't really talked to him in years.
Marisa shouldn't be having second thoughts about Derek. She is finally with him so she thinks she needs to be happy. But all she can think about is Nash. The way he listens to her, the way he understands her. She has an anxiety disorder and she tells Nash about it and he understands and is there for her.

Enter guy 3 into the story. He is a local DJ and nobody knows his identity. Marisa listens to him on the radio every chance she gets. She enjoys him. She enjoys his advice. He's a real guy.

Marisa also has a friend named Sterling. Sterling is a good friend to Marisa but she's always dating the wrong guys. She tends to like them older. She is seen dating a few different guys throughout the story.

I was a big fan of Nash throughout the book. He seems like a nice guy. The kind of guy I would take notice in.

So, who does Marisa end up with? Nash, Derek, mystery DJ?

Overall: Loved it. One of my favorite Colsanti book's, this and When It Happens. It gets you picturing what is happening once you read this book, it was amazing.

Cover: Its really romantic. The way they are sitting on the dock. I like his glasses and the way her hair is in a ponytail. The cover also relates to the story, which does not happen much anymore. Usually the cover is way off base! Love it
